Q1: How can I obtain information on the saleable area of a unit?
A: The information may be obtained through the following channels:
- Go to the Property Information Online of the Rating and Valuation Department at www.rvdpi.gov.hk (Enquiry Hotline: 2150 8836) for information on saleable area of private domestic properties (excluding village type houses).
- For developments under the Consent Scheme of the Lands Department, the saleable area of the unit is usually available from the agreement for sale and purchase of the first assignment of the property registered in the Land Registry.
Q2: Where does an estate agent get my telephone number?
A: The Registry does not have the telephone number of property owners. Please check with the estate agent direct.
Q3: How can I know whether the scavenging lane is owned by our building?
A: Check the site plan, deed poll and carving out plan to see if it falls within the boundary of the lot of the building. At the same time, you can also make reference to the Deed of Mutual Covenants of the building to confirm whether the scavenging lane is owned by the building.
Q7: How can I obtain the old editions of the Street Index and CRT?
A: The old editions of the Street Index from the 31st to 55th editions published between 1999 and 2023 and CRT from the 1st to 24th editions published between 2000 and 2023 on compact disc are still available for sale. The price for the 31st to 34th editions of the Street Index and 1st to 3rd editions of the CRT per compact disc is $300. The 35th to 48th editions of the Street Index and 4th to 17th editions of the CRT per compact disc costs $250. The price for the 49th to 55th editions of the Street Index and 18th to 24th editions of the CRT per compact disc is $370.
The Land Registry is also in possession of the 24th to 30th editions of the Street Index in bound volume published in 1936, 1938, 1956, 1961, 1967, 1977 and 1987 respectively. They are available for free inspection at the Customer Centre. Photocopying is subject to a fee.
