Roles, Functions and Background

Central Imaging Centre

The Document Imaging System (DIS), introduced in July 1996, stores over 144 million pages of land documents. It fully replaced the Land Registry's paper based document storage and retrieval operations by applying optical imaging technologies, including scanning, optical disk and database retrieval. The Central Imaging Centre (CIC) is equipped with modern facilities to provide centralized services for the DIS. With the imaged documents stored on optical disks, we can offer our customers the benefits of fast and convenient document retrieval and delivery services. Customers can obtain the service at our search counters, or by using the self-service computer terminals. Subscribers of the Direct Access Services (DAS) can order and receive copies of imaged land documents by fax.
