- 1844 - Land Registration Ordinance enacted. First memorial registered on 23 May 1844, Registration by Surveyor General's Department
- 1883 - Registrar of Supreme Court takes over land registration
- 1949 - Registrar General's Department established. Responsible for urban area land registration
- 1984 - Computerisation of urban land registers begins
- 1993 - The Land Registry established as a trading fund department
- 1996 - Document Imaging System launched
2001 - 2002
- 20 Apr 2001 - Tender for the development of Integrated Registration Information System (IRIS) closed
- 18 Jun 2001 - DAS enhancement - remote orders for copies of Block Government Lease and certified land registers can be collected at any Registry office
- 15 Sep 2001 - Contract for the Colour Imaging of Plans Project (CIP) signed
- 14 Mar 2002 - IRIS contract signed
- 15 Mar 2002 - CIP conversion of plans of registered documents commenced
- 31 Mar 2002 - 14,593,489 registered memorials now on record
Future
- 3 Jul 2002 - Passage of the Land Registration (Amendment) Bill by the Legislative Council
- 23 Jul 2002 - Colour Imaging of all New Territories plans completed
- 5 Aug 2002 - IRIS contract commencement
- 14 Dec 2002 - Target to complete colour Imaging for all urban plans
- Late 2002 - Revised Land Titles Bill to be submitted to Legislative Council
- Jan 2004 - Rollout of IRIS phase I
