Revised Schedule and Associated Service Arrangements for Maintenance and Upgrade of Integrated Registration Information System (IRIS) in Second Half of 2008



Purpose

This circular gives notice of the revised schedule for system maintenance and upgrade of IRIS in the second half of 2008 and the associated service arrangements.



Background

2. In Land Registry Circular Memorandum (LRCM) No. 1/08 dated 29 February 2008 (available at the Registry's website http://www.landreg.gov.hk/en/notices/circular.htm), the tentative dates for system maintenance and upgrade of IRIS in the second half of 2008 were set out as follows:

(a) 6 and 7 December 2008; and
(b) 26 and 27 December 2008.

3. LRCM No. 1/08 further stated that, in respect of the occasion on 6 and 7 December 2008, it would not be possible to provide the backup search services on the first day of the maintenance slot (i.e. 6 December 2008).



Revised Schedule and Associated Service Arrangements

4. Due to work adjustment, the schedule for carrying out system maintenance and upgrade of IRIS in the second half of 2008 has now been revised as follows:

(a) 14 and 15 September 2008 (Sunday and Monday); and
(b) 26 and 27 December 2008 (Friday and Saturday).

5. Furthermore, backup search services will be provided on all the four days referred to in paragraphs 4(a) and (b) above.



Limitation of Services Provided by Backup System

6. During the two occasions referred to in paragraph 4 above, the IRIS main system will need to be shut down. In its place, the IRIS backup system will be used to provide search services. However, there will be some service limitations and special billing arrangements. For details, please refer to paragraphs 7 to 11 of LRCM No. 1/08.

7. All IRIS search services will revert back to the main system upon completion of the scheduled maintenance and upgrading work.
