Our Value to Hong Kong

Over half of all Hong Kong families own registered property or are becoming property owners

Over 4 million searches of registered information take place each year
79 Government departments use Land Registry information for purposes ranging from planning studies and criminal investigations to guidance on allocating public housing benefits and social security
Registered information traces property transactions back to 1844. Some records have information going back to the 1700s. The registers are a resource for the economic and social history of Hong Kong

Functions

The Land Registry's main functions are to:

Administer a land registration system by maintaining an up-to-date Land Register and the related land records under the Land Registration Ordinance and Regulations.
Provide the public with facilities for search of the Land Register and other land records.
Provide government departments and agencies with property information.
Process applications for the incorporation of owners under the Building Management Ordinance.
