1. Operation Guide of WBT Toolkit on IRIS Online Services

 

1.1 Computer Configurations for Using this Toolkit

 

This Toolkit is best viewed at 800x600 resolution with Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or 6.0) or Netscape (version 6.2 or 7.0) with Macromedia Flash Player 7 Plug-in installed.

1.2 Quick Start

 

Important : You must agree to the terms contained in this Toolkit.  If you do not accept the terms, you shall not use this Toolkit.

To launch the WBT Toolkit, please click HERE and follow the steps below to begin.

 

1. To start the training, please click "Menu" button.

2. Highlight and click once the topic/sub-topic to start the demonstration.

 

Inside each demonstration, you can use the buttons of the Control Bar (Scroll bar, Rewind, Back, Play, Pause, Forward, Exit) at the bottom to view the demonstration at your own pace.

To return to the main page, please click "Home" button.

To exit the Toolkit, click the "Exit" button to close the program.

1.3 Special Notes

 

According to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, some information in the Toolkit has been masked to protect the privacy of the concerned parties.

 

This training kit guides you on the use of IRIS Online Services.  It contains the procedures for conducting search of land records.  The example quoted for login and payment are for ad-hoc users and the steps may vary for public subscribers.

2. Introduction to IRIS Online Services for Ad-Hoc User

 

2.1 General Services Provided for Ad-Hoc User

 

IRIS Online Services is a web-based service provided by the Land Registry.  It enables the customers to conduct online land searches using internet based technology. The operation hours are shown below :

 

            For Enquiry of Search/Order Status, Subscriber Account Information and Online Help

            Monday to Sunday (including public holidays) from 08:30 hour to 00:30 hour (next day)

 

            For Search of Land Register, Unposted Memorial Information and Ordering Land Records

Monday to Sunday (including public holidays) from 08:30 hour to 23:30 hour

 

 

For Ad-Hoc User, the following services are provided:

 

a)       Search of land register of "current" or "historical & current" particulars of a property in either plain or certified copies with different search options like search by address, search by lot and search by Property Reference Number (PRN).

 

b)       Ordering of different types of imaged land documents, in either plain or certified copies.

 

c)       Search of Unposted Memorial Information.

 

d)       Enquire details of orders made within a pre-defined period of time (e.g. 14 days) with different enquiry options like by Transaction No. and Order No.

 

e)       Different delivery channels available for requested orders such as View by browser, Fax, E-mail, Online download, Mailing and Collection from Customer Centre or New Territories Search Offices.

  

f)         Single payment for multiple orders. Payment is settled through Online E-Payment with Credit Card (Visa / Master) or PPS

2.2 IRIS Online Services ¡V Client Workstation Requirement Specifications

 

Recommended Configuration of Computer

 

CPU:                      Intel P-III 550Mhz or above.

RAM:                      128 MB (for orders delivered via fax/courier or viewing land register only);

                              256 MB (for viewing imaged documents and colour plans - up to A3);

                              More than 256MB (for viewing of plans larger than A3).

Hard Drive:              200 MB free for storing temporary files of search results (for browsing online)

                              More storage is required if the search results are to be kept.

Operating System:   Windows 2000, Windows XP.

                              For viewing Chinese characters, traditional Chinese language should be supported by the Operating System.  Chinese plug-in such as RichWin is not supported.

 

Connection

 

¡±         56Kbps dial-up connection is the minimum.

¡±         Broadband connection (1.5Mbps or above) is recommended for downloading or browsing document images.

 

Accessories

 

¡±         Modem is required if dial-up connection is used.

¡±         Chinese input device is optional.

¡±         Printer is optional.

 

Browser Software

 

¡±         Microsoft Internet Explorer1 5.52 or 6.03,4.

¡±         128 bits SSL enabled.

¡±         E-payment can be executed only if ¡§accept cookie¡¨ is set in the ¡§Privacy Setting¡¨ category.

 

Other Relevant Information

 

¡±         Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS) (http://www.info.gov.hk/digital21/eng/hkscs/download.html) support is required for viewing special Chinese characters commonly used in Hong Kong.

¡±         Image Viewer (supporting JPEG and TIFF CCITT fax 3 and CCITT fax 4 compression) is required for viewing document images. 

¡±         Fax machine is required for receiving search results by fax.

¡±         E-mail software and e-mail account are required for receiving search results by e-mail.

2.4 View Broadcast Message

 

Ad-Hoc user can view any notices or updated information posted through the View Broadcast Message function of the IRIS Online Services. An eye-catching ¡§New¡¨ icon, , will be shown whenever there are new broadcast messages posted onto the system. The latest message will always be shown on top of the message list for easy viewing.
